Meet Alina Villasante, founder and designer of Peace Love World, this oh so sweet & trendy Cuban is no stranger to fashion. In fact, many would call her Miami-based clothing company a growing sensation.

This past Tuesday, Alina and her team hosted a quaint brunch for a few Miami editors to preview her 2014 Summer & Fall designs — and the Flair Miami gals were there to chat with her and see the gorgeous collection.

How did PLW get started?
I started running a successful aviation business. I did that for a few years, but then I sold it to pursue my t-shirt idea. I wanted to create tees that make people smile, and really, I was just designing clothes that I wanted to wear — hoping other people would want to wear them too. I invested some money into it, and my girls helped me sell about $85,000 in just shirts. Our first store opened here in Miami in 2009 and its been growing since.

Tell us a little bit about the 2014 Spring & Summer line. We saw quite a few new pieces, even some vegan-leather/denim jackets?
Yes, I’m very excited to launch this collection. Since the brand itself has already established a look and a feel that people recognize, we wanted to slowly add some more fashionable pieces and fabrics. You know, we didn’t want to change too quickly… Oh and I love the jean jacket and the dresses that can be worn from day to night.

Alina is a gem! And needless to say, she walks the talk. Her home screamed peace, love & happiness from throw pillows, to wall art, to her joyful personality…

The Summer collection was fun and vibrant. The staple light-weight tees and sweaters had statements like I am Happy, Summer Love, Love Hippie, I am Eternal and my favorite, I love Sundays!

As for the 2014 Fall line, I cannot wait! The mix of fabrics is perfection.

I was instantly wooed by the beautiful white flowy dress and this uh-ma-zing pale pink vegan-leather jacket. <3

I’ve been a fan of Target designer collaborations for quite a while now, and as you know, Peter Pilotto for Target was no exception. As usual, I did most of my shopping online, though I think I may have gone a little overboard on this one… Let’s just say you may be seeing quite a mix of Pilotto pieces. ;)

Unfortunately, some items didn’t quite fit as I hoped, (I’m actually having to get a few things tailored) though the crop top was a pleasant surprise. I believe it’s meant to be worn as a swim piece, but who says you have to follow rules? I paired this top with a mid-length pencil skirt to give it just the right amount of class with a hint of sass.

Did you buy anything? What was your favorite piece, and did it run true to size?

Ya han sido varias veces que he comprado de las colaboraciones de diseñadores de Target, y como ustedes saben, Peter Pilotto no fue la excepción. Como de costumbre, hice la mayor parte de mis compras en línea, aunque creo que esta vez me pase de cuentas… Solo digamos que en los proximos dias talves vean toda una mezcla de piezas Pilotto. ;)

Desafortunadamente, algunas piezas no me quedaron como esperaba, de hecho, algunas de mis compras todavia estan con mi costurera. Pero, este top fue una agradable sorpresa. Yo creo que está supuesto a ser usado como una pieza de baño, pero ¿quién dice que tenemos que seguir las reglas? Lo pareje con una falda lápiz de longitud media para darle la cantidad justa de clase con un toque de insolencia, jaja!

HERE IT COMES

Is it just me, or does it feel like everyone is getting engaged, married or having babies?

FOUR FAVORITES: VALENTINES DAY

The day of love has arrived! I love Valentine’s Day! A day filled with love, balloons, flowers, & a perfectly suitable pink & red explosion! What’s there not to love?

Well, I realize that for some this can be a very difficult day… Perhaps you still await the love of a significant other; or you are reminded of your lost beloved. For some it’s a reminder of a failed attempt at love that resulted in divorce, or emotional brokenness. Can I remind you that there is still reason to celebrate?

Valentine’s Day isn’t just about boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands and wives. In Bolivia we call it, “El Dia del Amor y la Amistad.” Translation: The day of love and friendship!

So today, celebrate love and rejoice in the this beautiful Miami day. Give thanks for the love of a mother, the laughter shared with a sibling/cousin and the sweet company of a friend. And never let a day go by without saying I love you to those who surround you!

ALL AROUND FASHOM FUN

Check your mail, you’ll find fashion. Open on your computer, yup more fashion. In fact, now-a-days with smart phones, not only is fashion literally at your fingertips but now YOU can be the model and inspire others. How? Welcome, Fashom.

Fashom is a new website and phone application designed to unite the everyday fashionistas all around the world. This newly launched fashion platform allows individuals like YOU to showcase your looks, designs, style preferences, street sitings and much more.

Just download the app, or register online and simply post away! Selfies are strongly encouraged, you can post photos, videos, vote on style trends, and my favorite part — browse through the map for creative inspiration from all over the world.

“Fashom focuses on everyday style by real people… We consider everyone on our platform a Fashom Stylist. Also, we make it easier for everyone to look for styles by looking on our Fashom Map. And this year we aim to have over 1 million users from different parts of the world,”said Mitali Saxena, the brand’s founder and CEO.

She also shared with us why she was personally inspired to create the app.

“I was looking for local street-style trends when I was traveling to Europe and I could only find high-end fashion blogs. The same situation happened when I was looking for a wedding dress in India and all I could find was designer wear. It would’ve been nice to find what real people were wearing and where they were buying from,”

Miami blogger, Lynsee and Mitali hosted the blogger’s night out/app launch party on Feb. 1. While our blogging community enjoyed sweet treats and libations, the app made its way all across the world.

Here are a few of the Miami fashion bloggers that made an appearance: Pictured from left to right, Juliana from A Fashion Soiree, Bianca from Bianca’s Fashion Corner, Lynsee from Style by Lynsee, Afroza from Chic Stlylista, and Anj from Styled with Poise.

Am I the only one who is seeing red eveywhere? I mean, Valentine’s Day goodies were already popping up at every drug store before the clock struck midnight on January first. ;)

IT IS HERE! PETER PILOTTO X TARGET

It’s been 4 months since Target called all fashionistas to save the date for their upcoming collaboration with London-based label, Peter Pilotto.

This collaboration is set to hit stores Sunday, Feb. 9 and finally, this past Monday night the brand released the entire look book. Here’s a look at a few of my favorite pieces from the collection, from dresses to skirts the entire collection screams fun!

The brand designed by the great duo, Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Voss is one of the most recognized brands from London. Known for their colorful, kaleidoscopic and textured prints, even Hollywood A listers like Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart, and Kerry Washington are fans.

The limited-edition collection retails from $14.99 to $79.99 — and features about 70 different pieces, including accessories, swimwear, and of course women’s apparel. Sorry fellas… :(

The good news? Target will be partnering with Net-a-Porter to sell “a curated assortment” of the collection. This will allow international customers to also get their hands on these coveted pieces. Will the partnership work? Well, if it does, maybe this will help those of us that stay up till wee hours of the night, only to find that awful “no longer available online” message on the Target website.

FOREVER

She rises in the morning, her feet hit the ground and she’s ready to take on a new day.

But this day, would be like no other… Perhaps it was the flawless and powdery snow that slowly fell as she looked out the window, landing perfectly still and possessing so much beauty. She marveled at God’s creation for what felt like forever.

Then it hit her, these minutes, hours, even days that pass her by would never again be repeated. Phrases like “I’ll do it tomorrow, forever and ever, and maybe someday,” took a whole new meaning.

Forever – without end, everlasting, eternal. But what exactly did forever look like and is there such a time as this? How does one live in the now and keep eternity in mind?

King Solomon, the author of Ecclesiastes explained it best:

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

2     a time to be born and a time to die,
    a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3     a time to kill and a time to heal,
    a time to tear down and a time to build,
4     a time to weep and a time to laugh,
    a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5     a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
    a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6     a time to search and a time to give up,
    a time to keep and a time to throw away,

She took a deep breath, embraced Virginia weather and all that surrounded her, both good and bad. Though she realized that forever was still a mystery, today, this day was a time to live, to love and to laugh. It was a day to be thankful for the gift of the present and to dwell in His love and fullness of joy.

2014 COLOR OF THE YEAR: RADIANT ORCHID

AND THE COLOR OF THE YEAR IS [drum-roll] RADIANT ORCHID!

It is day three of 2014 and we are already excited to be talking about the color of the year. I must say though, I certainly was loving the emerald green I spotted everywhere all throughout 2013 fashion, but I am a little more excited about this year’s color choice.

After that description, who wouldn’t love to rock this beautiful shade? I am already looking through my closet for a pop of orchid and noticing it may be the perfect excuse to get a little shopping done! ;)

FLAIR MIAMI 2013 HIGHLIGHTS

It’s almost time to ring in the new year! Twenty-fourteen is just around the corner and here I am, shocked Christmas is over and we are just days away from the big 2-0-1-4. Seriously, how did we get here so fast? At the end of each month, I found myself saying, “Where did this month go?” and now I find myself saying, “Where did this year go?!”

Is this what it feels like to grow up? The days/months/years just start to flash before your eyes? CAN WE SLOW DOWN?!

It seems like it was just yesterday I was writing last years “CELEBRATING NYE” post. No, really… It feels like yesterday. But as I think back on this year, and as I look through all of our posts, I realize what an exciting and successful year it truly has been for Flair Miami. So, in honor of this year I decided to mention my top 5 FlairMiami highlight moments of 2013.

The Next Face of Rimmel London – This was fun and completely unexpected. I was at Miami International Fashion Week, where I was asked to sign up for a Rimmel London modeling contest (yes little 5’1 me) and next thing I knew I was selected as one of the top 20 finalist in the nation. Okay, so I ended up not winning…but it was definitely a highlight from this year! It is a memory I will never forget and it’s all because of Flair Miami that I even stumbled across the opportunity!
Flair Miami Turns 1! – HAPPY BIRTHDAY FLASHBACK! When I first started on this journey with Flair Miami I never would have thought I’d be able to be a part of the special one year anniversary. It is just the beginning and I am more than thankful to be able to be a part of it all! To many more birthdays and Flair Miami celebrations!
Style, Sweets & Sips – In honor of Flair Miami’s one year, we decided to celebrate with style, sweets, and sips. Thanks to all the bloggers who participated in making our one year unforgettable! It was also during this same time that Sabrina joined our team for the summer…actually it was at this very party that I met the lovely Sabrina! When I think back to this time, I think about nothing but fun! I am positive we were all on a Flair Miami high this summer! ;)
Fashion for a Cause – Thanks to The Fashion Poet and Peace, Love, World, Flair Miami was able to be a part of Fashion For A Cause during breast cancer awareness month! This was definitely one of the highlights of my year with Flair Miami!
Miami Web Awards Nomination – Remember that time Flair Miami got nominated as one of the top fashion blogs in Miami? Oh yeah! That was last month! I think that pretty much sums up this whole year, and although we did not go home with the prize we are happy to say we were nominated and we are even more happy for our friend The Fashion Poet, Annie Vasquez, for winning!

With this year coming to a close and all the wonderful things we were be able to be a part of, I feel extra thankful for 2013 and the opportunities I was able to partake in because of Vannia & the blog. So, thank you Vannia for not only being such a wonderful friend, but for truly taking your time to include me & make me a part of Flair Miami! I am beyond thankful!

And thank you to the blogger community and all the readers! We couldn’t have done half of the things we did this year with-out you! To many more years filled with fun…but even more with FLAIR!
